The TRAIN system in Spain works very well...
Although the trains are not very fast, they are comfortable and cheap and probably one of the best ways to travel. Even though it costs more than a bus, it gives you the opportunity to escape the torture of a bus trip by just spending 20 to 40 € more!

Barcelona has two main stations which serve different destinations. When in doubt, go to Estació Barcelona-Sants; not all trains leaving Barcelona-Sants necessarily pass through Estació França. Most trains also make stops on the Barcelona metro line. For general information about trains and train stations in Barcelona, call RENFE, Spain's main train company (902 24 02 02).

For exact prices and schedules see www.renfe.es. For long trips (8 hours or more) consider taking the Trenhotel where you can get a sleeping car for slightly more money.
